A Woman with a Dark PastA thirty-something, art teacher. Blunt, subdued and compassionate. Beatrice’s appeal comes from her tender nature. She has an innate ability to forgive, even when crimes against her are considered unforgivable by most. Although occasionally short-tempered and unpredictable, she has no trouble admitting when she’s wrong in order to keep the peace. Her past revolves around a world in which nothing is for certain, and love—the one thing she needs the most, is the one thing she cannot have. As a result, the walls around her heart are thick and difficult to knock down. She can’t rely on anyone to stay, so she trusts no one with her heart. However, on the reverse side, her tragic past gives her an overflowing faucet of strength, which inevitably allows her to conquer almost any and every obstacle with or without the help of others. A Closer Look…Beatrice Sumner is long-suffering. Those two words sum up the very core of her being. As well as her past, present and future. All of her experiences and choices revolve around the misfortune that occurs in her life. Her prison is an emotional one in which tragedy is the norm. Yet, ironically instead of becoming too embittered by the experience she is prone to be empathetic, forgiving and compassionate. This is basically due to the fact that she can relate to others misfortune because of her own bad experiences. Yet somewhat contradictory, this makes her easy to love but difficult to get close to. Like many people with unfriendly pasts, she is able to draw others in, but doesn’t let them in. In short, she keeps them at a safe distance. A place in which she can love them, yet they cannot love her back (to the extent in which they wish to). Although love is the very thing she needs it’s also the very thing she runs away from. She is an open and closed book. Heads and tails combined together. Forthcoming, yet quiet. Obvious, yet mysterious. Submissive, yet challenging. And lastly, she’s a woman who is open to an experience of profound love, but goes to great lengths to avoid it. |
